Sacramento - College students from throughout California trekked to the State Capitol in Sacramento to join Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) for a hearing on the Middle Class Scholarship Act (www.MiddleClassScholarship.com), the Speaker's legislation to reduce the ever-increasing cost of a higher education in California. The Assembly Committee on Higher Education unanimously approved AB 1501, one of two pieces of legislation that make up the Middle Class Scholarship Act. The message the students and Speaker Pérez conveyed to the Committee: College is becoming unaffordable and inaccessible for too many students, and the Middle Class Scholarship will help reverse this dangerous trend. Here’s more in this Assembly Web Report.
