(Sacramento) – Fear encompassed our nation after the Japanese military bombed Pearl Harbor during World War 2. And in that fear, the U.S. government made the horrible decision to gather approximately 120 thousand Americans of Japanese ancestry and place them in internment camps. California State Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez stood in solidarity with the Members of the Legislative Asian and Pacific Islander Caucus on the Assembly Floor to introduce Assembly Concurrent Resolution 104. ACR 104 declares February 19 as a "Day of Remembrance." Speaker Pérez hopes this day will serve as a reminder for all of us that we can never let such an atrocity happen in our nation or our state again. Hear Speaker Pérez’s tribute in this Assembly Access Video.
