(Sacramento) - Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) talked with students on the campus of the University of California, Davis following the pepper spraying of students by university police. "Like most Californians, I have been absolutely appalled at some of the incidents that have taken place in recent days against peaceful protestors," Speaker Pérez said. The Speaker has also announced the Assembly Higher Education Committee will convene a hearing on December 14th to look into the deeply disturbing incidents involving the use of excessive force by University of California police officers against peaceful demonstrators at UC Berkeley and UC Davis over the past week. Sacramento television station KCRA interviewed the Speaker when he visited with the UC Davis students for part of their evening newscast. Watch their report in this KCRA video.
