Dear Friends,
The catastrophic earthquake that shook Haiti in January 2010 has caused much devastation, affecting millions of Haitians - now, more than ever, the Haitian community needs our help.
In response to several requests from my constituents on how to help the relief effort in Haiti, I’ve compiled a list of useful links and resources I thought may be of interest. Please use the resources below to learn about the kinds of assistance you can provide and to learn more about the tragedy:
- Visit interaction.org if you would like to offer aid or volunteer.
- Visit whitehouse.gov for up-to-date information on the earthquake in Haiti.
- Families of Americans living in Haiti should contact the State Department at 888-407-4747 for information or visit their website.
- Organizations or individuals looking to obtain information on disaster relief should call the Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) at 703-276-1914 or CIDI.org.
- For information about the status of U.S. citizens in Haiti, please contact the American Citizens Services at: 1-888-407-4747. Haitian citizens in the U.S. should call the Haitian Embassy in Washington, D.C., 202-332-4090, or the Haitian Consulate in New York City, 305-859-2003.
