SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement on the high speed rail funding:

"Today's action by the Assembly will move California's High Speed Rail construction forward. We have approved funding for the initial construction phase of this project, as well as funding for related projects in Southern California and the Bay Area. We have included vigorous oversight mechanisms to ensure that this project, which will create thousands of jobs and generate billions of dollars in economic activity throughout California, will move forward as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. We will continue to work with the Governor, our colleagues in the Senate and our partners in the federal government to move this project with enormous potential for California forward."
