SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement today after the Assembly passed AB 2503, legislation the Speaker authored allowing companies to preserve marine life-supporting artificial reefs resting on the underwater portion of decommissioned oil rigs:

“The rigs-to-reefs program this legislation supports will help boost marine life and bring in funding to provide for the long-term enhancement and protection of California’s valuable coastal and ocean resources. This is a win-win for our marine ecosystem and for the people of California.”
