A portion of Highway 111 will be renamed to honor the pioneers who founded Imperial Valley.
A resolution, introduced in the state by Assemblyman V. Manuel Pérez, commemorates the contribution of early settlers of the region by designating a portion of Highway 111 as “Imperial Valley Pioneers Expressway,” according to a press release from Pérez's office. The highway portion, between Interstate 8 and Highway 78, will take on the special designation, with all costs set to be covered by non-state sources.
It received legislative approval Wednesday and will be chaptered by the Secretary of State.
