U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement in response AB 1319 being signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown Featured

"I am grateful to Governor Jerry Brown for signing Assemblymember Betsy Butler’s legislation to ban bisphenol A (BPA) from baby bottles and sippy cups sold in California.

"California is now the largest state to take action against BPA. The passage of this bill sends a powerful message that this chemical has no business in children’s feeding products.

"I know from my own experience at the federal level, this proposal faced fierce opposition from the chemical industry. Despite strong lobbying against the bill, the legislature and Governor Brown did the right thing to protect California’s children.

"This is an important first step to protecting our children from harmful chemicals. I will continue to work to enact legislation that would impose a nationwide ban on BPA in food and beverage containers made for infants and children."
