Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed into law a bill from South Bay Assemblywoman Betsy Butler that will ban the chemical bisphenol A - or BPA - from plastic baby products.
Butler, a Democrat from El Segundo who represents the coastal South Bay, has said AB 1319 will help reduce young children's exposure to a chemical that studies show can be harmful to development and is linked to an array of health problems.
