Representing the 12th District
Welcome
Thank you for visiting my website, where you can find additional information on my legislative priorities, committee assignments, professional background and much more.
As the Speaker pro Tempore, I am standing up for California as part of the Speaker's leadership team. We have been working to provide quality healthcare for every Californian, to expand educational opportunities, to keep our communities safe, and to protect our environment.
In addition, I have been focused on a number of important issues facing California. My Assembly Bill 1108 protects California's kids from toxic chemicals, and as the Chair of the Legislative High-Speed Rail Caucus, I am working to keep California's future on track. With my experience as a Certified Public Accountant, I am always watchful of California's bottom line and work every day to improve our state's fiscal health.
Please check in regularly to keep up with the progress we're making for Californians. Please also feel free to contact me (hyperlink on contact) to share your thoughts on any issue facing the Legislature.
Together, we can make California a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
In Peace and Friendship,
FIONA MA

Through this initiative, we hope to gain widespread support, and access to an Identification Kit which includes vital information such as fingerprints and DNA swabs which if ever needed, can be immediately given to authorities to assist them in their efforts to locate a missing child.”

Assemblywoman Fiona Ma's Statement Following the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Ruling on Proposition 8
SACRAMENTO –Assemblywoman Fiona Ma (D-San Francisco and San Mateo Counties) released the statement below, following the ruling on Proposition 8 from the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit:
"Today we celebrate, once again, California’s commitment to guarantee the rights of those who were unfairly denied the legal rights provided by marriage. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals proved that our Constitution remains as steadfast to the principles and ideals of freedom, equality and pursuit of happiness that our country was founded upon.
In 2004, I stood with equality advocates as San Francisco voted to affirm marriage equality. I can still recall the vivid image of couples who stood in line and slept outside City Hall overnight just to get married. It was a beautiful moment in history for equal and civil rights in California, right alongside giving women the right to vote, and the desegregation of public spaces.
Having just taken my vows in November, to share the rest of my life with my partner and husband, I fully understand the need for members of the LGBT community to have their marriages publicly recognized and legally protected by the State. I stand with my friends and neighbors who are still waiting in line to knock down the door of inequality so they can finally celebrate their love and commitment.
I have faith that the rest of the nation and the Supreme Court will follow suit in addressing one of the last vestiges of inequitable and unjust laws left in our country. The Court's recognition is one more step towards our fight to protect human dignity and loving families.”
Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Fiona Ma's Reaction to Governor Brown's State of the State Address
Sacramento - Assemblywoman Fiona Ma (D-San Francisco and San Mateo Counties) released the statement below following Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.'s State of the State Address:
"Democrats are supportive of the governor's proposal. We are prepared to go to work and make the tough decisions that are necessary to balance our budget, while still protecting the services, schools and safety net for the most vulnerable Californians.
I applaud the Governor for asking that we move swiftly in bringing High-Speed Rail to California. The California High3-Speed Rail Authority projects that the Los Angeles-San Francisco route alone will generate a net operating surplus of $2.23 billion by 2023. This equates to real revenue and jobs that we just can't afford to leave on the table.
However big the challenge, I know we are up to the task. We have a lot of work ahead of us to pass another on-time budget this year but I have full faith we will succeed."
