Statement given by Assemblymember Huber

Assemblymember Huber explains what AB 13x7 will do.

Assemblymember Huber says the Legislature, and the people they represent, should have a strong voice in any decision regarding a peripheral canal.

Assemblymember Huber says AB13x7 would require an economic study before a canal is built so lawmakers will know the impact on water ratepayers statewide before they vote on the project.

Assemblymember Huber says the peripheral canal – as proposed – would be massive and could severely impact the Delta.

Assemblymember Huber says the Governor is out of touch with Delta residents.

Assemblymember Huber says creating the Delta Stewardship Council means un-elected bureaucrats, not the legislature, will make the final decision on whether or not to build a peripheral canal.

Assemblymember Huber says lawmakers, not un-elected bureaucrats, should decide if a peripheral canal should be built.
