Last July, part of McKinley Park’s play structure was destroyed by arson. The City determined that the structure, built by volunteers and members of the East Sacramento community in 1994, needed to be completely replaced. Last month, final approval was given for a new play structure design. The remainder of the old structure was demolished and reconstruction is due to begin in June.

The reconstruction will again be done with local volunteers. Please join Team Dickinson as we help with the McKinley Park Rebuild.

Team Dickinson will be out in full force on Saturday, June 8th, for a shift that runs from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The entire rebuilding operation is being managed by Play By Design, a nationally-renowned firm. Their team captains will supervise volunteers during the build. Volunteers do not need any prior construction experience; Just a positive attitude, some clothes that can get dirty, and a lot of sunblock! Free food and childcare will be provided at McKinley Park by Play By Design staff.
